It’s crazy to me that you can live in a town for years and never really experience it. Even the tiniest towns have their local spots that people love and know. For Leesburg, FL, that’s the Leesburg Lightning summer college wood bat baseball team (that’s a mouthful). I’ve been to a few games but Chris has never been to one. It’s funny because when we pulled up, he was surprised at the amount of people there. He thought it was a just-for-fun league. My mom and I just laughed. The Leesburg Lightning? Just for fun? No. It’s serious business. I’ve heard of people traveling with the team to watch all the games. It’s legit.
Because I’m such a mom, I had to get some pictures of my baby with everyone in my family. I just can’t help myself! I just think Addison is the cutest.
I just love the atmosphere of sports games. The team spirit, the smell of hamburgers on the grill… in a weird way, it feels like home. It’s just so comfortable. We ended up sitting in outfield and there were only two guys who sat out on the bleachers which was perfect for us because Addison was free to roam around without bothering anyone. We could also just chit-chat with each other and no one around cared.
For the game, I made Addison a little lightning headband and am pretty proud of how it turned out. It was my first attempt, so it wasn’t perfect. I loved it on Addison, regardless. I’m going to make Addison and I matching Leesburg Lightning headbands next year because they are so darn cute!
Chris, Addison, and Faith headed home halfway through the game. My mom and I stayed. It was so nice talking to my mom, just the two of us. It’s funny how when you’re a teenager, your parents drive you crazy but as an adult, everything changes. I loving talking and spending time with my mom. How do people survive without their moms?
Next year, I’m definitely going to try to make it a point to go to more games next summer. They are such a fun way to spend time with family and most importantly, GAMES ARE FREE. Sure, it gets hot and humid. But if you’re like me and don’t care, you will have a blast.
