This year, one of my New Years Resolutions was to spend more time with Chris and Addison. I’m not talking about just sitting on the couch watching television. I’m talking about spending quality time enjoying the state that we currently live in. Both Chris and I have our sights on one day moving to Washington State. I know that for me, having that goal in mind distracts me from the beautiful state that I live in. Even though Florida is not my dream state, I want to make more of an effort to enjoy the time I have here. I want to see the different beaches, go to the sporting events, and experience Florida to the best of my ability.
This past weekend, Chris and I were supposed to go out to Fort Myers to spend the weekend with our best friends but things got switched around and we decided to do something different. Living in Central Florida is pretty ideal because everything is relatively close. Chris and I decided that we wanted to go to the springs and packed a bag for Juniper Springs in the Ocala Forest. We live 45 minutes from the campground and it’s only $5/person for the day pass.
We only ended up spending about 2 hours over there but we considered it a pretty successful day trip. The springs were nice even though it was small. There were a ton of people there but neither of us mind crowds, so we weren’t bothered. The water was ice cold. Addison was shivering in her float. I have no idea how the kids there were just diving in. I went up to my waist and felt like I was freezing to death.
I think next time we go to Juniper Springs, we’ll camp overnight. We saw the mill exhibit but didn’t even get to touch the trails or the kayak route.
Hope everyone is having a great summer so far and don’t forget to stay cool!
