A Model For A Day: Fort Myers Weekend Trip

This past weekend, our little family traveled down south to Fort Myers, to spend time with our best friends Karla & Anthony. We will have been friends for ten years in August (crazy!) and still are so close. They are getting married in October and will be living in Fort Myers after that.

Anyways, they needed Chris’ help for a project that they currently have in the works and it is literally taking everything in me not to blab to the entire world. Even though Karla, Addison, and I just sat and watched the men get styled and photographed, it was a really awesome experience for me personally. Everyone there is pretty young and yet so driven. They have ideas and plans. They’re creative and business-minded. They all have the mentality that failure is not an option and whatever they do, they are going to make it the best that’s ever been done.

It’s admirable and inspiring. It makes me wonder what I could do if I had that type of drive. It makes me want to find that the thing that makes me want to just improve upon and be the best at. Another thing is I just love seeing the people I love in their element and succeeding. I’m so blessed with my friendships.

Chris got his hair cut and styled. Then he got to model. What makes me smile is that Chris is so awkward in front of the camera. He also has perfect posture at all times which makes it physically impossible for him to do the slouchy look. Regardless, my man look so good! I was just staring at him like, could I be any luckier?? No. I don’t think so.

After that, we ended up getting some food and then headed back to the apartment. The apartment complex was beyond beautiful. Addison requested to swim so we went to the pool and relaxed. The pool was a resort style pool. It was huge. There were cabanas off to the side and everything. It was perfect. I’m debating on when I should move in over there (kidding).

Addison slept awful. Then Sunday morning, she hit the floor with a bang and her arm broke. Which that’s where are beautiful weekend pretty much ended. If you want to read about the whole broken arm thing, just click over to my post I did on Sunday to read all about that experience.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

This year, one of my New Years Resolutions was to spend more time with Chris and Addison. I’m not talking about just sitting on the couch watching television. I’m talking about spending quality time enjoying the state that we currently live in. Both Chris and I have our sights on one day moving to Washington State. I know that for me, having that goal in mind distracts me from the beautiful state that I live in. Even though Florida is not my dream state, I want to make more of an effort to enjoy the time I have here. I want to see the different beaches, go to the sporting events, and experience Florida to the best of my ability.

This past weekend, Chris and I were supposed to go out to Fort Myers to spend the weekend with our best friends but things got switched around and we decided to do something different. Living in Central Florida is pretty ideal because everything is relatively close. Chris and I decided that we wanted to go to the springs and packed a bag for Juniper Springs in the Ocala Forest. We live 45 minutes from the campground and it’s only $5/person for the day pass.

We only ended up spending about 2 hours over there but we considered it a pretty successful day trip. The springs were nice even though it was small. There were a ton of people there but neither of us mind crowds, so we weren’t bothered. The water was ice cold. Addison was shivering in her float. I have no idea how the kids there were just diving in. I went up to my waist and felt like I was freezing to death.

I think next time we go to Juniper Springs, we’ll camp overnight. We saw the mill exhibit but didn’t even get to touch the trails or the kayak route.
